Pastor Dennis Beach
Born and raised in Valparaiso, Indiana, Pastor Beach is the second oldest of seven children and a fast eater and to this day spends a very short time in the bathroom. Aviation was his career target beginning in high school when he first took flying lessons. After cleaning up smelly cockpits and cured of his airsickness, he decided to major in aeronautics at Arizona State University, Tempe, Arizona. He served as an Aircraft Maintenance Officer in the USAF, personally taught flying in the civilian sector, and eventually flew in the light cargo industry. He finally traded in wings of flight for the eternal wings of the Spirit.
After graduating from Gettysburg Theological Seminary, "stardom" on the seminary flag football team (he saw a lot of stars), and falling down perfectly good steps, he accepted his first call and was ordained into ministry in the Lutheran church (coordination was not a prerequisite).
Pastor Beach served seven years as pastor at Northlake Lutheran Church. Following additional pastoral ministries in Joliet and Oregon, Illinois, he walked without tripping into Epiphany in an upright position. He's enjoyed ministry as pastor since 1997.
Like the notable previous pastors of Epiphany, Pastor Beach believes strongly in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the sacraments as the spiritual path to encountering the living Christ. Spirituality is a need built into all of us and a need developed and nurtured through the church.
