Children's Clothing and Toy Resales
Epiphany offers two sales dates: one for clothing and another for toys and
equipment. The sales are held twice per year, in September and March. They
are open to the public. Sellers receive 80% of the selling price (less an
$8 registration fee). Working a three-hour shift qualifies you to pre-shop
and purchase up to 25 items at the sale worked. West Suburban
Counseling Services (LSSI)
A Lutheran Social Services of Illinois counseling center is located at
Epiphany. LSSI's counseling professionals work with individuals, couples,
families, children and groups - people with a variety of concerns and
problems. They help people who:
- are depressed
- are working through a divorce or the loss of a loved one
- are working on improving their marriage or parenting skills
- are victims of abuse, either as children or adults
- are suffering from anxiety or loneliness
- are having trouble with decision-making
- have children with behavior or emotional problems
- just need someone to listen
LSSI provides services without regard to race, sex, age or religious
affiliation. Counseling fees are based on a sliding scale, adjusted
according to family size and income. For more information call LSSI's
Central Intake at 773-282-7693.
Adult Christian Care (ACC)
ACC provides a planned program for older adults who are moderately
physically and/or cognitively impaired. The goal is to stimulate and enrich
their daytime hours, so they may continue to reside at home. The program is
primarily for adults who are over age 60, but younger adults can be
accommodated. Clients must be mobile and independent, but may use walkers or
canes. They should handle meal times with little or no help. ACC is open
Monday through Friday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. except holidays.
PADS
Epiphany Lutheran Church is proud to be a part of the DuPage Public Action
to Deliver Shelter (PADS) program. Members of the congregation volunteer
food and/or time once a month to feed and shelter and homeless at a
third-party site. Annually, volunteers from Epiphany help to provide shelter
to approximately 240 adults and 15 children and prepare over 700 meals. A
significant undertaking made possible only through the collective effort of
many individuals, the PADS program at Epiphany is one of the largest growing
ministries with an appeal that reaches every corner of the church. For every
meal purchased, for every bed made and for every homeless person treated
with dignity and respect, it is a chance to demonstrate how each of us can
make a difference.
The Epiphany Cover Girls -- Lutheran World Relief Quilt Project
The Epiphany Cover Girls are a group of women who have been making quilts
for Lutheran World Relief since 1991. More than 1000 quilts have been
assembled by ladies dedicated to this ministry of love. Work sessions take
place for six consecutive weeks in the fall and then again during the
winter. This group also coordinates the gathering of soap, sweaters, and
school supply tote bags. These items are collected in the fall and then
shipped to a Lutheran World Relief Distribution Center. |
