Social Ministry Committee

This committee is to bring the Word of God to life for people in need, and we do that by way of providing meals, clothing, school supplies, donations to food pantries, adopting families for Christmas and participating in World Hunger Appeals.

In order for the committee to operate efficiently, it is broken down into subcommittees each with their own leader.  Some projects are in operation all year while others are seasonal or annual.

Lutheran World Relief falls under Social Ministry and all projects associated with it are coordinated by Joan Schroeder.  Dollars are donated by various organizations within the church (Men in Mission) or budgeted through Social Ministry.

PADS is a subcommittee coordinated by Susan May.  Various projects, food and volunteers are solicited per an assigned schedule.

There are additional outside organizations that Epiphany Lutheran Church supports financially as outreach, without other involvement.  The dollars are budgeted by the Social Ministry Committee, and reported to Church Council.

Other opportunities may come up during the year that the committee determines to be of value and to sponsor.  These are voted upon by the committee and reported to Church Council.  Social Ministry recognizes the needs in our community and beyond as we try to reach out to our brothers and sisters.
